Hanna Kim works LAPD Hollenbeck Division.
"I am related to law enforcement as I chose this career path more than 18 years ago. I am the first in my family that has chosen this amazing profession. I was introduced to a very small aspect of our career by none other than the son of one the men who took out the only remaining suspect of the North Hollywood shootout. It brought my curiosity the forefront and that is the reason I chose it.
One of my profound experiences of losing a fellow law enforcement officer was that of Officer Nancy Walden of the LAPD Transit Bus Division. I met her while we were assigned Transit Bus Division. She was 20 year veteran Army Veteran helicopter pilot. We fast became friends upon her return. her latest deployment. Nancy’s daughter was on the fast track to enter college one year earlier than her high school peers. Nancy and her daughter were murdered by their husband/father. I felt so helpless and lost learning of this catastrophic event. It was a nightmare in reality. It had left a significant and painful reminder we are mortal rather than immortal. There is also Steve Gajda who was killed in the line of duty January 1, 1998 while working crime suppression New Year’s Eve." Click here for more stories.
